Alcohol dependence affects not only people who drink excessively, but also their partners, friends and family. A new study published in the journal 'Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research' found that alcoholism has a strong connection to the age when people marry and if such marriages are successful or not.
"For young adults who drink, if your habit continues to be a problem level could have an impact on their marriage prospects and the likelihood of having a truly lasting marriage," said study author Mary Waldron, professor of human development at the University of Indiana.
"We have long known that alcohol dependence strongly predicts the separation, but found that it also predicts the delay to marry, and that surprised us." The study analyzed more than 2,500 pairs of Australian twins between 28 and 92 years of age, all with a history of alcohol dependence at some stage in their lives. The researchers found that alcoholic women are 23% less likely to marry for the first time at any age.
For men was 36% lower only after 29 years of age. For both sexes, the researchers concluded that the odds of separation were doubled, and moreover, the separation was given before. They also found that genetics played a role. "What we found when using fraternal and identical twins was that the genetic influence seemed to contribute to the partnership," said Waldron. The researcher hopes the study will open doors to understanding the effects of alcoholism on children.
"To truly understand the impact of parental alcoholism on their children, we must examine marriage and divorce of parents," she said. According to the American Psychological Association, alcohol dependence, or alcoholism, is defined as the loss of reliable control alcohol intake, causing a greater tolerance and withdrawal symptoms if you stop drinking.

Carolina Pineda News: Fire in Rio de Janeiro A fire in Rio de Janeiro on Monday destroyed a large portion of an area known as Samba City, where the decorations for the city's carnival celebration are created.
Firefighters were fighting the fire, which spread to several warehouses in the carnival district. The warehouses were stocked with flammable materials that are used in Rio's famous carnival celebration.
There was almost nothing left in the affected warehouses.
Area residents suspect that the fire started in a classroom where officials were hosting a class for ambitious women, and that it then spread to three samba schools.
Economical impact: The decorations of the carnival cost a lot and the money used for them was wasted; now they have to spend a lot more money to pay for the damages and for new decorations.
Social impact: the carnival is an opportunity to bring people from other countries to Rio de Janeiro and it’s considered as tourism, but since there are no decorations many people will consider not going, and that wouldn’t be great for the people that work in it. Also since there has to be many decorations many people work on them, the people will be upset that all their work was burnt and maybe they won’t like to do it again.
Political impact: The government will have to repair the damages done by the fire and will have to help rebuild the warehouses .
The countdown for the release of the five kidnapped - Susana Panesso Yesterday at noon arrived the two helicopters that le Brazilian government lend for the operation in which five kidnapped by FARC are getting their liberty back. They are expecting to begin Wednesday morning with the first men: Marcos Vaquero Piñero. The release will last until Sunday, five days for five people. The order for the other left releases is not done yet, but the ones who are going home again are: Armando Acuña, Henry López, Salín Antonio Sanmiguel and Guillermo Solórzano. Social Impact The fact that there is a releasing from las FARC means that there can be a possible dialogue between the terrorists and the government. If there is such talk and a peace agreement FARC would stop taking peasant out of their homes and sending them to the cities, so there would be less homeless and beggars on the streets. Economical Impact Is peasants are let back on the country side, they would start growing the crops and that will increase Colombia’s economy. Political Impact If there is an agreement between the terrorists and the government, like in M19 case, FARC could become a new political group and the politics in Colombia would be renewed.

The purpose is supposed to be that men would retire at the age of 65 and women of 62. Garzón (the vice-president )expressed its disagreement to the proposal indicating that it should not be part of the National Development Plan, that this should be discussed
Economical: this is happening because the government don’t have the enough money to pay to the retired people to live well
Political: This proposal has generated a division in the government because the vice-president, Angelino Garzon said that people couldn’t work that much, mean while the president agrees with this proposal.
Social: people would have to work 5 years more than is is supposed to be. Not everybody would agree but if they don’t work those years there wouldn’t be enough money in the future to pay the social security for everybody.

Colombian Truckers Strike Colombian truck drivers, have been on strike for more than two weeks, blocking major roadways of Colombia pressuring Colombian government. All these chaos started because the government created a new price table that the truckers didn’t agree with it, trackers wanted the government to maintain a table of fixed rates, ensuring that all truck drivers charge the same amount per trip depending on distance and load volume, while also demanding a 14.7% increase in these prices to cover operating costs. The government also didn’t help the trackers in any of their problems so this complicates the problem. Some taxis have been solidary with the trackers because the high prices of gasoline, and the difficulty the taxis have to lend services to the cities. All these strike has affected a lot of sectors in Colombia like: exportation, traffic etc… this association of trackers is very big it contains 180.000 of the 300.000 of the transportists of the country. The government is trying to find solutions to solve this problem by trying to get to an agreement with the association of Colombian trackers. This strike is affecting: Bogotá, Medellin, Bucaramanga, Popayan, Pasto and many other cities in Colombia. This protest consists in bloquing side by side of very important roads of Colombia so it had affected a lot. The one that organizes the strike was Pedro Aguilar the president of the association of Colombian trackers. SOCIAL IMPACT: this is affecting the people because with this strikes they have to woke to their jobes, people be late to everything, some people depend from the transporters but they aren’t working so this affect that people, it could happen more accidents. Because with the traffic they are making they are affecting all the citizens, people is also affected because the food isn’t arriving to the cities. Economical impact: Colombia export a lot to other countries, but this strike is affecting the economy of Colombia because we don’t recive any money of the exportations because the exportations aren’t arriving to the determinate places, we are affected in: coffee, food etc.. And the ones that transport all of this things are the truckers, this thing is also affecting Colombian economy because if we don’t receive money many people would be without job, also the agriculture would be over produced so the food prices would low and this would affect the economy. Environmental impact: all this chaos is affecting the environment because the contration of that much of trucks, taxis, vehicles, buses etc.. they produce a lot of gases and that gases goes to the ozone cape, plants, trees etc.. and started to desgastate them. Political impact: politics would be affected because they would be required to change all this table prices, after this mavy it could happen a division or more problems between the trackers and government.

Guillermo Solórzano kidnapped in 2007 and Salim Sanmiguel kidnapped in 2008 were handed over in Miranda in the department of Cauca. It was a second attempt to rescue them after the lasts operation that released Marcos Baquero, Armando Acuña, Henry Lopez and Carlos Alberto. las FARC promised hand over the kidnapped on Sunday, but the operation failed because the guerrilla gave wrong information on the place of hand over. On Wednesday, the FARC issued a statement in which they reconfirmed their willingness to release the kidnapped. Finally yesterday evening they met again and were reunited with their families. Political impact: the goverment cant trust in las FARC because they didnt bring them back because they wanted to, aparently they did it, to move Alfonso cano. Social impact: the other families who have relatives kidnapped keep hoping the release of them soon.
Economic impact: were three operative and in all of them was necessary a military aid, helicopters, that decreased the budget as it was unexpected
New Zealand earthquake: 10,000 buildings abandoned
The earthquake that happened in New Zealand the 22 of February, cause that several houses and commercial centers have to be demolished. "Potentially there are some ... areas of Christchurch which will need to be abandoned and we will have to provide other alternatives for people to live in because the land has been so badly damaged, we can't fix it — certainly not in a reasonable time frame," said the prime minister. Economical impacts: the government will have to use the money of the country to rebuild all the damages caused by the earthquake. Also the people that worked in the commercial centers that will be demolish, won’t make any money because they don’t have a job. The country would make less money because the people are leaving to other places to be safe and to rebuild their life. Plus the country won’t make money in the touristic area because people don’t have anywhere to stay, and don’t have anything to see because everything was destroy by the earthquake. Political impact: the government will find in a big trouble because he will have to translate thousands of people to somewhere safe, and will have to make new homes for them. Plus they will have to make important decisions because they will have to please lot of people and they won’t be able to do so. Social impact: the people are losing their jobs because they find out that their work places are demolish or ruined. So lots of people are living somewhere else to reconstruct their lives. As the government said the problems won’t be fixed in a nearly future, so lots of people won’t have a place to live in a long time. Environmental impact: the earthquake itself cause that lot of buildings were destroyed, this made that lots of powder went into the air, contaminating the air and causing health problems to the people. And the air would be even more contaminated when all the buildings that are damage are demolished.
CONTAMINATED FOOD AND SEAWATER IN JAPAN They have found radioactive substances in seawater near the plant. They have said there's no threat for humans but if it continues for a ling time some impacts will occur. Because of the dilution of the radioactive particles in the sea there's not much chance of deep-water fish being tainted. Tests have detected contamination on food too; the government has close some places in which they produces milk, spinach, and others. This contamination isn't dangerous, only if it's consumed repeatedly. POLITICAL IMPACT--> There's going to be debates all over the world of people who are scared of plants against people who think plants aren't bad. ECONOMICAL IMPACTS--> A lot of people is going to be without job and without money. There's going to be less income sources. SOCIAL IMPACTS--> A lot of families will be affected economically and in health, because this causes deformation and illness on people. ECOLOGICAL IMPACTS--> This is affecting plants, animals, people; and all of these are connected, so with one dead it affects a lot. Plants don't contaminate a lot, so if people get very scared and stop building them there would be more use of petroleum which contaminates much more.
NEW:MARIA CAMILA DEL TORO 8B Police find in san Felix-bello six cans full of liquid cocaine, this was a really rare found because police check a laboratorie that make cocaine and other drugs and they didn't find it but in 26 of February they make a unusual discover that was liquid cocaine underground that was of a band called los pachelly. All this cocaine have a total cost og 1.300 millions of pesos and is a new method for criminals to import or export cocaine without police to know, because they find this amount of cocaine because of a high technology equipment.
POLITICAL IMPACT: Government would have to make new programs with police and more people for having more security or tools when is with drugs because narcotraficants are having a lot of new methods that government will have to be more carefull and to be better in their jobs. SOCIAL IMPACT: Is not only the fact that drugs affect health, social and mental problems in the population but also the trafication of this make violent wars in communitys so with this violence can grow. ECONOMIC IMPACT: There are 2 important facts the first one is that Dollars enter to the country and change a lot of things like prices of things and a economic that all is going to be doble priced and the other one is that pleasants and farmers are going to prefer to cultivate cocaine plant instead of fruits or vegtebales because the other options give them a higher quantity of money and this make a easy and risk fount to get money and to live to society. MARIA CAMILA DEL TORO 8B
Airplanes of the international coalition bombard misrata, between tripoli y sirte. The situation in the city is not good and is critical because they lack supplies, electricity, medicine and the number of injured is very high.
Social: the isolation in wich is misrata right now, due to the military blockade of Gadafi have the city without any tipes of supplies such as energy, food, medicine, wáter, etc. And all of this makes that the poblation suffer.
Politic: Gadafis government loose power so other countries try to help this cause, and they may be against or with libia, so this can cause a world war. Economic: theres an economic embargo on lybia. Lybia is a strong petroleum producer, but because of the embargo lybia is not selling enough petroleum, so they don’t have money. There’s no international trade. So the price of the petroleum increases all around the world. Ecologico: wars and bombings causes environmental pollution and destrucción in th countries. Because of this war countries can attack petroleum towers, and once they explote the can contaminate the environment.

Economical impact: this helps in the economic part, because this schools can helps families that can afford to a school for her son so the kids can study. And is very good that this kind of foundations that have the money to construct new schools do it. The money that is used for this constructions isn’t wasted and is for a good cause. This money is not form the government, but from foundations. Social impact: is very good that shakira help neediest people, and try to help others. This school will give boys and girls a very good education. Political impact: some of the government porpoises will become real, that is the education. And this school the foundations are going to construct is a good help for the country and for the government.

A few months ago the U.S. government was following the steps to Walid Makled drug dealer, when he was in Colombia territory they gave confidential information to the government to capture him. Days after the U.S. government, requested the extradition of makled,Creating a difficult situation for the Colombian government which had already given his word to Venezuela. On Tuesday April 12th president Juan Manuel Santos during his visit to Spain, assure Walid Makled drug trafficker is going to be extradited to Venezuela on Friday April 15th.
OPINION
POLITIC: It affects the relationship between Colombia and the United States because that country helped capture the drug dealer and get nothing in return, but also improve the relationship between Colombia and Venezuela.
ECONOMIC: It will affect the U.S. decision on the TLC with Colombia.
SOCIAL: It will bring more security to Colombian society because know they captures a very important drug trafficker.
Colombia’s raining season The first rainy season in Colombia this year is causing a lot of destructions throughout the country. According to the Red Cross, 93 people lost their lives, five are missing and 69,000 are homeless because of landslides and floods. This year's excessive rains took place only weeks after the end of last year's rainy season. More than 2.8 million Colombians have been affected by both rainy seasons. The floods, landslides and mudslides have paralyzed the country's infrastructure; dozens of roads are flooded or blocked by earth and rocks as a result of landslides. So far, Bogota has given $178 million for aid, while the total damage of the rains is estimated at least $5 billion.
Political impact: the government will have to take responsibility of the damages and will have to give homeless people food, shelter and clothes. Many people will judge how the government is acting towards this because we haven’t seen much activity from politicians and how they are helping.
Social impact: lots of people are losing their homes and families, children will not have the opportunity to have a childhood because they’ll have to help their parents to gain money, take care of their siblings and create a new home, and also there will be a lot of fatal diseases because of the dirt, contaminated water and bad hygiene.
Economical impact: there are a two sides for this impact: first, the rain causes floods, and these floods take place in crops which are the mayor economical resources, and this will make the prices get higher and make some things unaffordable for our population, because as you know most Colombian people live in poverty, this will also decrease the exportation to other countries. Another impact is that roads are closed, rivers are flooded and some airports will be soon closed because of the rains and floods this decreases a lot the tourism because no one likes to travel with this climate, and it’s almost impossible to go to some places.
A day without car Wednesday, April 27, 2011 is going to be the day without car in all the Aburra Valley. The rule begins from 7am to 6pm. The only exceptions are for public service mobiles (busses, taxis, school, etc), clean gas cars and the ones that are being used by three or more people. Impacts: 1. Political The day without car was just held in Medellin last year, but this time the mayors from the 10 towns of the Aburra valley agreed to make it all around the valley. To make an agreement between 10 mayors takes a lot of work and “leaving” apart the other difficulties the towns have had between them in other occasions, so that an activity like these can be held in an organized and legal way. 2. Social There is going to be a lot of people out in the streets, so there is going to be a lot of different activities around the valley to make people realize how important this day is and is our responsibility as citizens to participate. Neighbors can gather up to make the 3 or more in a car. Shopping centers and parks are also preparing activities to make during the day. 3. Economical The not cars might be harmful for industries such as the gas stations, car washing, etc. , but it is also going to be good to others such as Metro, Taxis, public service busses, etc. 4. Ecological This day is also an ecological day, not as much air pollution is going to be caused by cars and people are going to realize walking, biking, skating, etc is also a good way to help the planet. -Susie Panesso 8A
Mexican police free 51 workers taken hostage Mexican police have rescued 51 kidnap victims in Tamaulipas. Officers raided a house in the city of Reynosa, freeing 27 Mexican, 18 Central Americans and 6 Chinese migrant workers. The operation comes a week after authorities rescued 68 people, also in Reynosa. The migrants were taken last August when 72 people were found murdered on a ranch in northern Mexico. According to Mexico's National Human Rights Commission, more than 11,000 migrants were abducted over a six-month period last year. Many are snatched by criminal gangs, either to extort money from their families or in some cases to force them to work for the drug cartels. People freed in last week's operation told police they had been seized when gunmen working for a drug cartel hijacked the buses they were travelling on. Reynosa is one of the key border crossing points used my immigrants trying to reach the US. Some regions of Mexico have seen rising violence as rival gangs battle for control of lucrative smuggling routes to the US. Some 35,000 people have died in drug-related violence in Mexico since President Felipe Calderon declared war on the drug cartels shortly after he came into office in December 2006. Impacts: Political Impact: As crime has been increasing these last years, because of immigrants to the U.S and drug dealers, it’s good to know that the police are doing something about it. That will restore Mexican’s trust in the police & if they keep freeing people and arresting criminals, crime will decrease and Mexico will regain international trust. Social Impact: People will feel safer with the police around and knowing that they are working to decrease the violence. People will regain trust in the government which is a good thing because the town and the government need a good relationship so they can make improvements. Economical Impact: Also if they gain other countries trust again, they will be able to make new and better deals of exportation and importation. Even if the government is spending more money in the rescues the results will be better because at the end they will end with drug dealers and illegal immigration.
Colombia winter disaster In the last weeks Colombia has been suffering a winter crisis. There have been a lot of cities and towns completely flooded; many roads aren’t available because of pieces of mountains collapsing and blocking traffic. A lot of people have lost their homes and their personal belongings. There have been people killed because they get stucked on the collapsed mountains. Economic impact: The government will have to give more money to rebuild the country and to fix all the damages that winter has caused. New taxes need to be collected in order to cover expenses to rebuild the country. Social impact: People have lost their homes and personal belongings, they would leave the town or cities were they live. There will be more homeless people in the country. Environmental impact: The environment is changing due to weather changes worldwide. Political impact: In Colombia new political strategies must be designed in order to face the winter crisis.

Social impact: new jobs would be created, people could sell more; this also give people recreation to enjoy and have a good time, new stages would be created, so this would give more people the possibility to practice sports, without mattering the status. Political impact: the government would spent a lot of money making this event, but this would help the cities to progress, because they would have new stages, also this is a change for Colombia to give a good impression, also our technology would improve. Environmental impact: some nature would be affected by the construction of the new stages; streets etc… so some trees and rivers etc… would be affected too. Also the pollution that this event would make is a big amount, because the transportation, the use of water, light would increase.

The Colombian government will give free access to internet for schools of classes 1 and 2 in 16 "states" around the country. This project started on December 2010 and will be finish by December of 2011. The ETB company helped out with the software and hardware and the easy access to internet, wherever the school or public institution is located. Impacts: *Political: Finally the hard work of the government is showing up on positive results. Governors are trying to help this country move on and they are trying to make children that haven't enough opportunities or access to new technical equipments to have them on their lives and education. This also shows that there are people who are interested in our country and want to improve the life conditions of many poor kids that are the future of our country. By this and many more improvements that the government is being doing, people are happier and satisfied by the work their governors are making. *Economical: 10.000million pesos were inverted on this project, this means the government was very defined on this idea, and even though that costs a lot they make their dream possible, to gave free internet access to schools of law classes. Also, many people can judge the decision of inverting that big amount of money on just one project, knowing that with that budget they could done at least one more thing, but they couldn't gave internet to all of those people. Also, many companies gained money because by having internet means needing computers. Computer companies sold them and make some money for their economy. By receiving more money than usual means employers received a better amount of salary when the computers were sold. *Social:Children's life will get better and their possibilities will increase. Their education will be better and finally they can start having good ideas and projects for their future. The government is thinking in the future of the country, the life conditions and possibilities of the children, Colombia's future citizens. We can all imagine how happy the kids are by having this amazing possibilities Colombia is giving them. We all hope this kids use all the help the government is giving wisely and constructive for their future. *Environmental: By having internet means they are using computers. This means people is not wasting that much of paper on exams, homework and classwork children are received each day,no matter the school which he or she attends. By stopping the unnecessary use of paper,we are helping the environment and the cutting down of trees we are demanding to survive.
News By Maria Adelaida de Greiff Walid Makled extradited to Venezuela Walid Makled, also known as “el turco”, Venezuelan drug dealer was captured in Cucuta on August 19th 2010 and on Monday May 9th extradited to Venezuela. El turco was also claimed by the US government but Juan Manuel Santos, the president of Colombia , announced on march that the drug dealer would be extradited to Venezuela, since they asked for him before US government. Makled declared that if he was extradited to US he would have told all the information he knows about the government of Chavez and the supposed linked this government had with the drug traffic. Impacts: Political impact: Makled could have been a master piece to destroy Las FARC since he was dealing with them and known them. The government of Colombia extradited Makled to Venezuela with unsupported reasons, knowing that the government and the fight against las Farc would have been benefited if the drug dealer was extradited to US. Colombia has been in a war against the drug dealer a long time now and the government should know that for the country to grow in economy, tourism or anything else we have to first finish this war. The US government won’t be happy with this resolution because they have spend a lot of money helping the country fight against drugs and when they ask for something to pay their effort Colombia deny it. But alkso Santos told that he sent Makled to Venezuela to improve the relationships with the other country in a political and economical way. Economical impact: Colombia and US have spent big amounts of money in the fight against the drug dealing every single year, to waist it all giving away a master piece in this fight to a government that not only will tried to hide as much as possible the declarations made by the drug dealer but will lie and will deny it all. Colombia has waist too much money in a fight that seems endless not only trying to protect themselves but helping the ones that already have been affected. Our economy can’t grow because of this and because each time that our economy seems to grow a new problem is created and new money is needed to stop it. If the relationship with Venezuela improve because of this extradition Colombia would be able to again export to their main commercial partner, Venezuela. Which can make the economy of Colombia get better from resents problems. Social impact: people in Colombia are tired of the war, of being scare to come out their house and of being only known as a country full of drugs and violence. The president promised to do all what he could to put an end to this war and let the country grow, but when the time of important decisions comes he does something that not only won’t help but will leave a whole population doubting that they made the right decision when they chose him to be their leader.
The directors name is Rob Marshall. The third part of Pirates of the Caribbean will be very different of the last two because some characters like Orlando bloom and keira knightley have left.
Penélope Cruz joins the cast as the daughter of the pirate whom all other pirates fear: Blackbeard, that is portrayed by Ian McShane. To save money, this installment was filmed in Hawaii rather than the Caribbean.
Impacts:
Political: the government need to protect the environment so it doesn´t damge.
Economical: It was very expensive film these movie in the caribbean island so they will do it on hawaii. It also increase economy because when people go to the cinema they have to buy the tickets and if they want some snack, these help the economy. Countries like U.S.A and U.K that have a very good production making this kind of movies increase the economy.
Social: Fans are not very comfortable with the change, this movie will be totally different as the other ones, these cause that some fans make rebellions. Also movies have many influences in society; they are an important part of the life’s of some people.
Eco: The eco impact is that this movie is film on the forest, lakes and also in town, but if they don’t make a good use of them filming equipment they can damage the environment

The volcano Gimsotn, the most active of Iceland, and located in the largest glacier in the country, erupted last Saturday. Icelandic meteorogical services announced that the large column of smoke has emerged from the crater. The European Agency for safety in air navigation (eurocontrol) has confirmed the temporary closure of the airspace of Iceland because of the cloud. If the ash cloud continues expanding, they will also have to closure airspace of Scottish, United Kingdom, France and Spain. Social impact: These countries can be affected because the tourism may decrease, because all the flights being cancelled. The people who lived near the volcano have to evacuate the zone, so they won’t have a home. Economical impact: Because the flights being cancelled, the tourism will decrease because people can’t travel. The airlines will lose a lot of money Political impact: The Iceland government will have to look for a place to live for the people who have to evacuate that zone. Ecological impact: Most of the people see this bad for the planet but it isn’t that bad. It is good because the green house effects will decrease, because there is a big ash cloud covering a part of Europe, so when the light enters to the earth by the Ozone Layer this light will bounce back out of the earth because that big ash cloud. Almost the 60% of the childs in Colombia work more than 14 hours and the 11 % work more than the adults. The percentage of childs working has increased in the past few years. The problem is that the teenagers are having sexual relationships and the girls are getting pregnant at an early age. To maintain the child they are leaving the school and work in some place where they can earn some money. POLITICAL IMPACT : the government is preocupated about all these problem so he is creating programs to educate people for preventing all this things so the kids can finish their school and when they get 18 they can work in anything they want. ECONOMICAL IMPACT : if the kids don’t study and instead of that they work, probably the economy would beneficiate because there would be more workers so the factories and business could improve but that is not the point because the kids would not be good educated and they have the right to be in a school. SOCIAL IMPACT: if the girls are getting pregnant at an early age and they have no money to support their kid the poorness would increase so it would never end. Another cause of childs working would be that adults force them to work so they could earn more money.
New cameras on the traffic lights in Medellin In this moment 80% of Medellin traffic lights have cameras, so the traffic light would be programmed with an intelligent system; this would help to make traffic and police mans more efficient. The cameras are ubicate in strategic places (the areas were more vehicles pass). Bogota was the place where all the idea developed and then they tried it in Medellin. Also it is installed electronic panels to know information about traffic, and save elements for invidents to cross the street, this would also generate more illumination in the traffic lights so people can see better. This intelligent system was a treat between ETB and LA SECRETARIA DISTRITAL DE MOVILIDAD. This treat has time limit of 5 years and it would be executed by steps, If this works it would be more time. The total inversion was 262 thousand million pesos. If you make an infraction and the camera capture it the penalty would be arrived to your home. Impacts: Social impact: this would make Medellin more safety because accidents would be reduced, and this would create a positive change on peoples mind. Some People at the transit would be without job because the new technology would replace their work. People that walk will be more safe, because there would be less possibilities for the people that drives to make infractions, because they would be afraid to have to pay. This would also create citizen conscience and would make people more responsible from their acts. Transit would have more time to ocupete in other things like: help to decrease traffic. Political impact: government spends a lot of money making all this new technology. This would help them decrease the number of street problems that they have to solve, like: accidents and or fines. Government would decrease the number of money payed to the transit workers because their job would be replaced, but in other part they have to pay more money for the upkeep of these new machines. Economical impact: this would help Medellin economy, because people have to pay so this money they can use it to improve roads or structure. The public works would be more efficient because there would be more money. The people that continue making infractions would have to decrease their family costs because they would have to pay a lot in infractions.
The attack against Guillermo Leon, alias Alfonso Cano, began on Tuesday at the morning with a bombard in an area located within the boundaries of Cauca, Tolima and Huila. So far there have been reported dead guerrillas. caracol was able to confirm that they found evidence of the presence of Cano in the struggles. IMPACTS: Social: the people that leave near the place they bombard will be affect too, because they can lose their homes or even their lives. Economical: the government has to invest a lot in the army so they can bombard the guerrillas camps. Also the people that haves damages because of these have to repair the things they lose. Political: the president have to be very careful with these kind of things because it is very dangerous if they don’t do it right, it can put innocents people in danger. Environmental: with the bombard the environment will be very damage because the nature suffer lots and also the animals can die and put more species in damage of extinction.
TWO MORE WEEKS OF MATERNITY LEAVE-By: Elisa Agudelo Ávila, 8°A.
Colombian mothers can enjoy of fourteen weeks taking care of their babies.
The president, Juan Manuel Santos, sanctioned a law which gives women two more weeks free from their jobs.
This law states that they will have 14 weeks of resting, of which they may spend two before the birth and the other twelve after. Mothers which had more than one baby at the same time have sixteen weeks
Adoptive mothers can benefit of this rule too. They change the birth day for the adoptive baby’s delivery day.
Adoptive fathers (without a partner) or widowed by the childbirth also have this license.
IMPACTS…
ECONOMIC: When the mother or father enjoys the maternity leave the social security system has to pay them for the time they are with their babies. This cost isn’t very high because most women have only from one to three children, and they normally work for more than 35 years, so the money this system gives them is relatively low.
SOCIAL: Women that have two free weeks before their childbirth are more prepared; they will have time and opportunities to attend to medical appointments, therefore: it’s more possible for them to detect problems in their pregnancy and to get prepared for the arrival of the kid. Besides, the last weeks of the pregnancy make women tired because they get very fat and heavy, their feet get swollen and they can’t sleep well at night, so these two weeks make them feel more comfortable on their homes.
POLITICAL: Almost all women are very happy when they get the opportunity to spend time with their babies, so the president, by signing a law that doesn’t have a very high economic impact, gains the respect and positive opinion of approximately half of the population.
ECOLOGICAL: This measure is mostly social, but you can argue that this measure helps the child on the first months of its life (which are very important) therefore: with happy kids, the society gets better, and probably this makes people friendlier with nature.
JUAN MANUEL SANTOS SINGS A LAW AGAINST CORRUPTION 10 moths ago he has a project about corruption to hel stop it. in these moment is a law. santos is more focused on war against corruption in sectors like infraestructure, water and royalites from mining (people that need help) these lawwill end with "carrouseles of contracts" in public work.
SOCIAL these law is very good for people because corruption will end and people would have their own thin, the services that the goverment pays for like health education etc
ECONOMIC the money the goverment haev from taxes would be more ans the people and the country would have more oportunities and they have a better life.
POLITICAL with these law we know that corruption would be less but goverment have to take wout all these bad people. now we know that goverment is interested in our lifes and the way we live
USA Y BRAZIL announced the creation of a new organism for fighting for corruption by commitments. It is a strategy that will lead to decrease the levels of the world corruption. It was an idea given last year by the United States president, Barack Obama in the United Nations. All countries participating in this program should commit, promote and fight for corruption, a problem all around the world. The U.S.A secretary of state, Hillary Clinton and Brazilian minister, Antonio Patriota, presented the idea to representatives of 60 countries and 60 no governmental organizations.
In September the program will get to known, and will be directed by Brazil and the U.S.A during the first year.
Participating in this program is optional, but for participating there would be some conditions.
The big effort need to be made by the states and the citizens. This would help to make treatments between countries, obtain humanitarian help and help the most affected nations by corruption.
In the corruption list Colombia occupies the 78 place. Economical: the money will have better use, nobody would steal or give bad uses to the money, more opportunities and better use of money, better resurces and not to much economical problems. Political: government would not have much corruption, less problems with people and a better country. Social: people will know that the money they paid to the government will have better use, and is for making good things for the country. Government will not have problems with the society.
For some time, no trial had garnered so much attention to U.S. media like Casey Anthony, a woman accused of killing his 2 year old daughter Caylee , in June 2008. After a long legal battle, a Florida court declared her innocent last week for lack of evidence. According to the prosecution Casey 25 years old, killed the girl because she was an obstacle for a life like any girl her age. Casey took his daughter, in the trunk of his car for several days before throwing in a forest near the house of their fathers. Police found the remains six months later, the mother became the prime suspect because she didn’t warn in time of disappearance. His neighbors say that during this period it was usual to see her partying with friends or going shopping as usual, and when asked about Caylee, said that a babysitter was taking care of her. His defense argued that Caylee drowned in a swimming pool and grandparents tried to cover up the accident. She was sentenced to four years for lying to authorities, but will only be in prison for six months because the judge decided to discount the time spent in jail while the case was clarified.
- Social: people do the same as Casey and receives only 4 years in prison, so the murder rateincreases and security can not be very good.
- Economic: if the murder rate increases, lower tourism
- Political: according to the text there is much evidence that Casey is guilty, but not the one the government ask, this makes it very difficult to have the evidence required and can enforce the law.

The matches are in the cities of Bogota, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Cali, Manizales, Armenia and Pereira. There are 24 teams: 4 from Africa, 4 from Asia, 6 from Europe, 9 from America and 1 from Oceania.
Political Impact: With this international event, Colombia gets recognized worldwide as been able to support such a big event. We get recognized worldwide and get out of the isolation of years ago. Indirectly it impacts the political ambit as Colombia gets recognition worldwide.
Economical Impact: All industries will benefit from this big event, for example, hotels and restaurants. And also because there are more tourists the economy will grow
Social Impact: It is also very important because everyone in Colombia is socially impacted by the football matches. People get together to go to the stadiums, everyone have the attitude of being socially involved with the world cup, to show the best of every city to the delegations and tourists.
Obtaining passports has become a large wait. By;Carolina Pineda
People arrive to La Alpujarra at 6 p.m the day before, to get their turn to get their passport, people sleep outside the building, so the policeman can give them the ticket, since there are only 160 turns a day. After you go inside you have to wait a lot of time so that you can pay, and then there’s another large wait to give your information; you even have to wait for the officers to have lunch and after two hours you finally get your passport. Economical impact: Obtaining a passport can cost a lot, and sometimes you even have to pay more money to a man so he can save you a place in the line. And not everyone is rich to pay that extra money but sometimes they need their passport urgently and they have to pay the extra money, and that leaves people struggling even more for money because they also have to pay public services, food, house, etc. also it can affect other countries’ economy because people don’t like to do a lot of stuff to go out of the country so they don’t go to obtain their passport and they won’t travel to another country, which will affect the tourism, and tourism is always a big [art of a country’s economy. Social impact: people have families in other countries that they want to visit, also they want to follow their dreams outside this country, but since it’s really long and expensive to obtain their passport they just give up and decide not to visit other countries where they can reach their dreams or visit their family. Political impact: soon people will riot against the government because more turns to obtain the passport are needed, and the government will have to search for solution to make the people happy and to give the country’s population more opportunity to visit other countries. Also people will question if the new government is doing a good job in giving passports.
World Bank: is an international financial institution that provides loans to developing countries for capital programmes. The World Bank's official goal is the reduction of poverty. By law, all of its decisions must be guided by a commitment to promote foreign investment, international trade and facilitate capital investment. Global economy entering ‘new danger zone’ Global stock markets are entering a "new danger zone", the head of the World Bank has warned in a scathing critique of economic leadership in the US and Europe. Robert Zoellick said the global economy was going through a multispeed recovery with western economies stuck in the slow lane following the downgrading of US government debt and the ongoing crisis in the eurozone. Investors have displayed increasingly erratic behavior in recent weeks. "What's happened in the past couple of weeks is there is a convergence of some events in Europe and the United States that has led many market participants to lose confidence in economic leadership of some of the key countries," said Zoellick, whose institution invests in developing countries. He said: "I think those events combined with some of the other fragilities in the nature of recovery have pushed us into a new danger zone. I don't say those words lightly ... so that policymakers recognize and take it seriously for what it is." Zoellick said that problems related to sovereign debts and uncompetitive economies in the 17-state eurozone had often been dealt with "a day late", stoking investor concerns that governments and central banks were not getting on top of multiple crises or even approaching them in the right way. "That worry has accumulated and so we're moving from drama to trauma for a lot of the eurozone countries," he said. On the US, Zoellick said the fundamental strengths of the American economy were not the main concern, but "frankly that markets are used to the United States playing a key role in the economic system and leadership". ECONOMICAL IMPACT: basically this new is all about economy in the world. I think that this economic crisis is affecting a lot of countries because they are not just losing money which is important, but as the article said they are also loosing confidence from other countries. If the crisis continues like this many countries will be bankruptcy and this will bring more problems, than the ones they already have. SOCIAL IMPACT: This crisis is not only bringing problems to the banks, but also to many people in the world, because as there is no enough money, many industries, shops, business, etc have to dismiss many people from their works. Many people have been unemployed during the last weeks, and this is not good for them, because they are not going to have enough money to pay their family or own needs. Also the assistance programs (the programs that help people with nutrition, education, etc) will be affected because there won’t be enough money to offer this services. POLITICAL IMPACT: The governments will lose credibility, because as the assistance programs will reduce people will react against this. The governments should make something quickly to start gaining again people and other countries confidence.
BY: DANIELA VELEZ FRIERI 8A BOLILLO GOMEZ- HERNAN GOMEZ While the woman assaulted by the head coach of the football Colombia Hernan Dario Gomez was not present before the authorities and make a formal complaint, the prosecution can not open any criminal prosecution for these acts. According to the Deputy Attorney Juan Carlos Forero, without the presence of the victim is very little you can do the prosecuting body. "What they need is that the victim is present and not to give up the administration of justice. Hernán accepted the responsibility for an act of aggression that occurred in a bar in Bogota. After the incident, under pressure from women's groups and government, herman resigned of being the coach of Colombia. The resignation was not accepted by the committee COLFUTBOL.
Political impact:This coach is a "public star" in Colombia. It is not fair that people judge him so much because what he did, imagine how many other men have done this and even worst things. Governemets should have programs for woman protection. Democracy is for all, he should be responsable for his own acts, and fifa should hive gime an attention call and (amonestralo) for what he did, cause even though he is a public person he did wrong and he must accept the responsibility of his actions.
Social impact: The people is disapointed because of this incident because a person such as the coach of Colombia should give a good example and act correctly because is a famous person and a very important figure in our counttry. This type of violence has been tried to stop by campaings, so if it continues and occurs in a public place and by an important person, makes all the work that has been done be lost.
Economical impact: People and the country itself was investing on the football team Colombia has. Because this action, some people might be disappointed and mad at his actions and my refuse to still like as much this team, and don't invest that much on football than before this news came out. Fifa might also waste money by protecting the colombian coach and trying to safe him of any political implications he might have.
The first hurricane to reach New York in a generation came the night from Saturday to Sunday, joined by lightning, tornadoes, and reports of heavy rain.
Some 70,000 people were left without electricity in the city and the water runs through the streets of the suburbs of Long Beach, just a few miles northeast of Manhattan.
The place was turned into a 'ghost town' and 370,000 people were advised to evacuate, while public transport was closed.
The mayor had ordered the closure of airports, subways and other public transport. Nine people died because of this hurricane.
IMPACTS:
Economical— this impact is very strong because a city that doesn’t even stop working for the night was paralyzed. By its own the economy in the United States is very affected and there are risks of a new crisis, and with this problem the risks increase. Business can’t open, people stop buying in some stores, the people who transports won’t get much earnings, etc.
Social— a big part of New York is without basic services, such as energy, transport, clean water, etc. People suffer because they are used to some privileges or some needful things that, for a while, they won’t have, for example: they are in the middle of summer, global warming is making it hotter, and people are without energy so they won’t have air conditioner. Some people died because they couldn’t get to their shelters on time.
Political— this crisis was something natural, so it doesn’t have a lot of political consequences. This affects the government depending of the way they manage this. The role of the government on these events is divided in two: the prevention and the recuperation from the disaster; the technology (the radars) let people know what will happen, so they could prevent and evacuate with anticipation; and the disaster didn’t had a mayor impact, so the government wasn’t required to a quickly respond.
Ecological— this shows that the situation is very serious (winters, summers, droughts, hurricanes, etc. are getting worse). Some scientists think that they are caused by the global warming, but, as the news says, some few years ago there was another hurricane, so this events could just be a natural cycle; maybe global warming makes things happen with more frequency and stronger.
Only card to pay on buses breaks through Cecilia Vélez 8B
A group of young students has developed the idea of an only card to pay for the bus tickets. This idea was mostly developed to decrease the number of robberies in public transportation. It would be no longer necessary for the person to take out the money to pay for each trip when getting onto the bus, but only the card. This card will be read by an ultrasensitive system which will activate the door to unlock. The card can be reused by charging more money into it. This card works like a USB that stores the amount of money the person still has. This card is planned to work first on the buses and later on the taxis, where it will have an average cost for all the passengers.
I think this card will show not only the citizens but also the tourists and other countries how Colombia wants to develop into a safer and more technological country, and be known not for the bad things but for the good ones.
People will start to use the public transports more confidently and more often because it will be easier to use them and safer. As more people will use the public transports the country will have more money to invest in other things.
The people who actually rob other people who use the buses will have to find other ways to get this money, so there would be two options, there will be more robberies but on the streets or they will find a job and study and create more jobs.
Other countries will see the effort Colombia is making by making the country safer, so they will want to help with the cause, making international relationships stronger.
Internet access will be a fundamental right in Colombia
Now its going to be a reality that all Colombian people can have access to internet thanks the senate that decided it in a debate. When they were debating about the proyect of the “ Reforma Institutional” they agree with putting as a fundamental right the access to internet in Colombia. Its means that children living in the countryside, farms and very far from the cities they will have the same opportunity of gathering in a easy way information from internet as the children living in the cities.
This idea of making the internet useful for our country was leadering by Luis Fernando Velasco.he explained the reasons why does a lot of effort woth it and is because been the internet the completly and easy way of learn thing and be update in everything like all advances in all the world is very important that all colombians have the way to take advantage of this network world.
Luis Also remebered to the senate that the last political system change in Africa was the result of the internet because they citicen were able to express what they thought.
Looking throw this new right in colombia i think this will make a big social impact because now people will have freedome expressing their thougth without been judge, people will feel with more autority for givig their opinion because their will be listen for someon, a political change because the democracy wiil seen stronger and also an economical impact because people will have more comunication that means more business for eveeryone and people wiil seen more advertising so there will be more competition that make us more strong and make our country move more money.

Free Trade Agreement with United States! By: Valentina Abad P.
The Colombian president, Juan Manuel Santos hopes that the Free Trade Agreement (TLC) between Colombia and the United States is approved by the U.S. Congress before the end of next month.
This was considered by the Colombian president during his meeting on Wednesday with Colombian people living in New York. "Despite the problems that currently has the U.S. Congress, what has happened in the past two days leads me to believe that this treaty is finally going to happen. This is an important step in our foreign policy and our trade policy, “Santos said.
Santos added: "That everything is the product of a new reality that Colombia is living, a new role being played in the international arena. The Free Trade Agreement with Canada finally came. Is already in operation. And the Free Trade Agreement with the United States will be approved before the end of next month. “That’s what he thinks. In my opinion it is a really good opportunity for Colombia, our relationships with other countries are getting stronger. This will help us to be a more developed country. And will bring us new choices and new things. This will open us to have new economic relationships with US and other countries like Canada. Exporters will be benefited by the FLA. I also think that people will be benefited because they would have more options to choose from, new things ad maybe better things, and cheaper products, but also Colombian products will have stronger competition so maybe the incomes will decrease.
Mani, Colombia, Three rivers in central Colombia overflowed their banks in Wednesday (September 14), destroying croplands and forcing 517 families to evacuate their homes.
The rising waters swallowed corn, yucca and banana fields and killed livestock in the east area of capital city Bogota.
A government official said heavy rain near the city of Mani; Casanare forced the Cusiana, Charte and Meta rivers over their banks, forcing hundreds from their homes.
"Because of the latest rain fall at the foot of the mountains, there are 517 families affected. They are under the census and the first bit of aid has started to make its way to the area," city secretary, Mauricio Tobar said.
A number of the small city's streets were submerged and hundreds of homes flooded.
The evacuated families were sent to school area buildings for shelter.
POLITICAL, ECONOMICAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT:
In Mani, Casanare, Colombia are many people that lost their homes, their belongings, and the government has the obligation to help that people that have nothing left, and are living in a horrible situation. Obvious that for the government is not easy, not only because they are 517 families that didn´t have home, but is because it`s very expensive to give a home to all the families that need one and these are only the families in Casanare, are also the other families that didn´t have home and need a place to live.
The problem it not only that the families didn´t have home, the other problem is that not only these affected these people is that by the flooding they don´t have any place to live, they are exposed to many diseases, and when the people didn’t have money to pay their health and treatments begin stealing to get the money and fulfill their needs.
MORE THAN 1000 MILLION OF PEOPLE IS GOING TO BED WITHOUT EATING SOMETHING
The world produce enough food to feed 7000 million people, but every day 1000 million of people go to bed hungry, this is a problem the world is going trow, according to the federal “cruz roja”. Many people is suffering, this is a problem that the world is passing trow, and the goverment doesnt care about it.
IMPACTS This is a global problem that we lived every day and in every place in the world, take a minute and realize how many people in this moment is dying for food.
This problem cause a political impact that the government have to find a solution for this problem like helping the affected people giving jobs to them so they can have money to buy their goods, also this affect the society because they are dying for not having food and this are not good living conditions. Also the economy get affected because all the food is more expensive and not all the people can afford to it, so less money for the countrie. Finally this problem have to be resolved because this is affecting the world and we have to worry about it helping the people that need it.
STRIKE IN PACIFIC RUBIALES ENERGY Pacific Rubiales energy is a company in the business of heavy crude oil and natural gas, its focus is on Colombia and Peru. About 400 workers were declared in strike and they burned five vans, besides lootings to the camp and offices. Federico Restrepo, vice-president of Corporate Matters of Pacific Rubiales Energy, explained that there are showing up problems between workers and some contractors, and that has generated flaws. He said that they had detected situations that are come out of the context in the relationship of the workers and the contractors, and there is where we have to act. To assist the problem seriously, the company create an office of complaints for the direct employees and the contractors. The Vice-president admitted that some contractors could be without certain benefits that the other workers have and that in this way the company would have to enter and to protect them so that the annexes of the contract are completed like the foods, the camps, the salaries, the schedules of work and the social security. The USE claims that the oil companies and its contractors will have to pay the wages like it should be and that the recruiting of regional and local manpower is privileged. It pointed out that 80 percent of the workers hired by the oil companies and for concessionaires are strange.
Impacts: In the economic part, the company lost money and production of petroleum and this makes the problem bigger because it is an international company and the loss is not only in Colombia but also in other countries, the country doesn't also receive bonuses neither taxes and after this unemployment the investors will prefer to invest in other parts. In the current government, the main goal it is the democratic security and this is a sample of how much work left we have to do, this situation also leaves a bad image of Colombia in front of other countries. Socially there will be less investments in social plans as schools, libraries, positions of health and among other because there won't be bonuses for this problem, there will also be insecurity in the area because very violently they plundered the things in that area and the work positions will also retire and there will be more unemployment in that area. by: Isabel Arias
Economical Crisis in the world The world is suffering an economical crisis; this hasn’t happen since 2008 with the world financial system. The cause of this crisis is that the economy is entering in an international recessive. This makes all the countries look for solutions for facing the crisis before this became worst. But they did not have enough financial resources to create a proper solution for the crisis.
The society is not conform with the solutions the politics are taking or proposing, because they are not giving resources or they have cut benefits and economic help to the people that need it( especially people with low resources),they are losing most of all social benefits .Another thing this crisis has been affecting is the investments that society have in the financial system, and because of this all the people lose a lot of money in the past few months .This crisis happened because the irresponsibility and bad management that the most important banks have given to the resources that they handle or have in their hands. Because all the countries are been affect in an economically way by this crisis, there no country that can handle or leader this situation because they cannot take the risk to lose more money. People have lost their job because the economy is in crisis the companies have to close or fire people, in some countries the governed couldn’t cover the subsidy and the public health. This means that the capitalism system and the globalization is in a crisis and is necessary to find new ideas or look for other solutions for this problematic. There’s a huge hole in the economy that even thought the richest countries give money to help this debt get smallest, the change didn’t see because it is so big (the debt) that it is difficult to notice the change.
'El Perla Negra' from The Farc couldn't get through the Pacific. 'El Perla Negra' failed to make its first trip through the Colombian Pacific, the submersible made of fiberglass and steel, had the autonomy of traveling 4 or 5 feet deep in the ocean and can carry up to four tons of cocaine. It was discovered by men of 'Jungla de la policía Antinarcóticos' in Condoto, Chocó. The submarine was owned by Alias Mincho, one of the leaders of the FARC's 30th Front, he spent 2 million dollars on its construction. This is the second submersible of the FARC discovered by the Colombian police in the last 48 hours.
Impacts: The most important impact would be the economical impact, because many families’ economy is supported by the cultivation of drugs and the trading of them; so if the drugs and their expensive gadgets like the submarine get taken away by the policemen, the FARC loses a lot of money, and then they can’t give the families the money they promised to give them, and their living conditions could get really bad and this affects the country’s economy because if they don’t have the money, they can’t pay taxes. On the other side, the FARC will like to show the country that they can't defeat them and they will kidnap people, make attacks, displace people, etc. and they're usually directed to people with less resources like peasants, police men, etc. Which are the base if the country's economy, so if there's no agriculture there's no trade, resources and everything needed to sustain the habitants of the country. This can also be the social impact because people get kidnapped, displaced, attacked, etc. And this leads to no education, dysfunctional society and families and many other aspects that affect every social class, and that cause a lot of changes in the country. The political impact is huge because as I said before all this terrorist attacks cause a dysfunctional society that in this case is the country, an the politicians are the ones who have to be in charge of this issues. They have to take responsibility, make choices to make the country better and to give a safe environment to all the population. This can cause instability within the members of the government because they have different opinions and making decisions can lead them to discussions and cause rivalries between the political parties, which causes political weakness.
10 years old girl kidnapped BY: Megan Pearce Calle 8A
On September 29 a group of people kidnapped the 10 year old daughter of the mayor of Fortul, Arauca. They kidnapped her mother too but they released her later. The authorities don’t know if the kidnappers are from FARC or if they are a common delinquency group.
Political Impact: Being close to national elections day, this event causes insecurity and government instability, loosing people`s trust in our authorities to control violence and offer security to its people. It also causes fear and insecurity among politicians to serve our country because they have a higher vulnerability to violence.
Social Impact: Colombian inhabitants, especially kids and young people are emotionally disturbed. This type of cases show that not even children are safe from being kidnapped in Colombia and that violence in our country trespass all barriers of sex, genders, social classes and age.
Economical Impact: A country´s economic security is impacted when it can not offer security to its people. Other countries lose trust in our country´s ability to provide security to its people and therefore do not invest, especially with the latest news on Colombia trying to get the free treatment agreement (TLC) to pass
The history of this business, which is over 2,300 million dollars (that demand pescadero Ituango construction) starts with the commitment of the ex President Alvaro Uribe Velez to the Medellin-Turbo dual carriageway.
The problem was that when they came to structure it was established that it was not profitable due to low vehicular traffic is recorded in several of the most important sections.
But then a solution came to light instead of a single dual carriageway an attractive package was armed with four works, connecting with the Aburrá Valley Urabá, Caucasia, Puerto Berrio and Manizales.
The National Government will make a contribution of $ 500 million.
The Government of Antioquia will provide 300 million dollars.
The Municipality of Medellin will contribute $ 200 million.
The remaining $ 1,500 million will put ISA, the largest energy carrier that operates in Colombia.
In this project participating entities as ISA, Governor of Antioquia, Medellin Mayor, the Idea, the Chamber of Commerce of Medellín for Antioquia, Proantioquia, the Ministry of Transport and UPS, among others.
Impacts:
Colombia is a country far behind in its road infrastructure. In this area are among the most backward countries not only in America also in the world. This work called the mountain highway should be a reality, despite the problems and complications have not been cleared. Without good roads we can not be competitive and the free trade agreements will do little. With the intervention of a project like the mountain highway, this will reduce costs and time to transport products we export. Antioquia department being one with coasts on the Caribbean Sea, has no major ports, also in our Pacific coast, we don’t have the major ports we should have according to the extensions of these shores. Is a reality without major ports we will not have the economic impact we desire.
Obviously the construction of this road would have a positive social impact because it would create more jobs and the areas where this road is constructed will have more development.
For Colombia is an essential need to advance the progress roads. Is a debt of our political class, because without road infrastructure development is not possible, the government also shows that is trying to find solutions to the problems that the country is facing and seeks for it development.
News Violence, the silly student in Medellin Some Months ago in La Institucion Educativa Edurardo Santos,of la commune 13 they had some problems of armed groups around the area,The principal of the school,Manuel Antonio Lopez, talk about a time that he was in a meeting and he listen to some shooting, when he look there was murdered student down the street. There is a big problem in the city with violence and the invisible borders, because of fear students are leaving education its because violence obligate them to leave their homes and also the little amount of psychological support, of 224 educational institutions that the city have,23 are in risk because this invisible borders that are made by illegal armed groups and the number of students that leave education only in this first 6 months of the year are 965 students The most affected commune is San Antonio de Prado, and then communes 13,16,8 and 5,There are some murdered students, some that are threatened and also charity homes that are in risk all because this armed groups.
oEducation is the main part of every human to developed in life In the best way, education give us the opportunity to make our future a good one, this girls and boys that are loosing this opportunity because some armed groups that are damaging the peace of the pleace and that are making people not to study because they are going to get killed give us a social problem because child’s and teenagers that need education are going to loose the opportunity of education and the most logical thing that is going to happened is that their futures would not be honorable one,for them to supply their needs they would find a way were education isn’t needed like prostitution, stealing, killing, trafficking that would lead to the same problems of violence so society would be affected, for this problem to be solved government would need a bigger security program that can assure the citizens that violence is not going to disturb them lifes anymore for that they would have to spend more money and a lot of things that are involved for the protection of this lifes that are in risk and trying to finish this persons that are making their place to live a horrible place and also for students to get back to school persons that give this students that are suffering a good specialized persons that can offer them a perfect psychological support, every person spect that the childs and teenagers would be the ones that are making the future of the country but if education isn’t applied they would give us more trouble for example talking about economic aspect this childs that then became adults that aren’t working wouldn’t give the country the economic part that we are specting otherwise poorness would appear in more high amount that affect in all the ways of the development of the country. •economic: they are paying for a service and is passing through difficulties so the company is losing money, because of this it would lose some clients and they invested a lot of money fixing this, if the factory loose clients there wouldn’t be the enough money to continue with all the employers, company began to receive less money so then they may go to bankrupt, companies in these sectors also are delayed because with no light they cannot work, then they miss work and lose money production.
• social: if the company breaks, a lot of people would be without work, students cannot do their homework, the neighborhoods that are affected, they lose a little production like little shops or things like that, homes cannot make food
• Political: the government must ensure the quality of life of these people and provide assistance in these cases to ensure that these people have the services and things needed to survive in good and decent way, the government should intervene in this, help doing something, help finding a solution.

NEWS THE VATICAN PROPOSES A GLOBAL CENTRAL BANK TO GET OUT OF THE CRISIS Maria Adelaida de Greiff The Catholic Church proposed that the global financial system has to be renovated immediately and talk specifically about the necessity of a general central bank that takes charges on confronting the crisis. This proposal was made after some protest held in Rome that led to big disturbs. This has a great impact in society because it shows that this crisis is so big that even the Church gives their opinion. Politic men might ignore this proposal because it was made by the church even if the idea is good; and if the idea isn’t ignored it would be very difficult to accomplished it because it has to led by a powerful nation that has the capacity to held a bank with so much responsibility, and even after a nation takes the power fights would still be held by other nations to remove the huge power given to that country. This would be a long term process and the changes in economy wouldn’t be notice until a long time, because at this moment no country has the capacity to contribute to this bank and the ones that could are not accepted by others or doesn’t want to take part in this, but if after all the bank succeed the economy would have a big growth and countries that are developing would be help and had more growth than those whom are advance, because the money would be distributed in a more similar to all countries. The economy would have less chances on entering to crisis because this bank should stabilized the economy, and it would reduce the anxiety of the markets. This idea was given to eventually help the society not only in an economical point of view but in a social point of view. If countries have money the people in the country would have found and would be calm, ensuring a better security for everyone. Also if this bank manages to exist, countries with extreme poverty would be help in a more fair way since this bank will be responsible to send them the right amount of money to help. And the differences between the rich and the poor would be lower because there would be a more equitable way of distribution. But it also would cause a lot of disagreement among people because it was a project that was started by the Catholic Church and others religions wouldn’t agree to be part of it.
Defense Minister confirms the FARC responsability about the kidnaping of Nhora Valentina, the daughter of the Mayor of Fortul-Arauca Defense Minister Juan Cralos Pinzon said that the FARC participated in the kidnapping of Nhora Valentina the daughter of the Mayor of Fortul-Arauca, who was kidnaped 21 days ago. He said this after many investigstions, however, stated that they are continuing the investigations, and they dont want to said which FARC front was the one that kidnaped the girl. The goverment also showed some pictures of the place where Nhora Valentina was. Pinzon also talked about the operation 'Fatima', developed last Sunday at dawn, in which 25 members anti-abduction unit of the security forces came to a Tame (Arauca) where Nhora Valentina was kidnapped. The Minister said that they found there clothes, some drawings and a kitchen fitted out for the kidnapping. Pinzon said last Sunday night, the guerrillas went away from this site and left the girl abandoned at 18 kilometers from where was the hiding place , and peasants found the child and took her to Comite internacional de la Cruz Roja. The Minister said that he doesn’t have information on whether the family paid or not a reward. Impacts The goverment did alot of things for the freedom of this girl. They try alot of ways, and even if took alot of time, because 19 days is alot of time for a kid to be kidnaped and in the conditions she was, finally all the effort they made was worth it, because now Valentina is again with her family, friends etc, and now she can say that she feels safe and happy. They goverment should be more alert about this situations, even thought the are trying to make Colombia a safer place, they need to continue working in the security so that each the violence in the country star to reduce, and should be alert, because as it happens to a Mayor daughter it could happen to any other kid in the country. The story of this girl made people pay attention to this situations, most of the Colombians were praying for the freedom of this girl, her father also said that he would give himself to freedom her daughter. People were looking for her freedom and hoping that she was okay and that she would return safe to her home. Also the Pope was hoping for her freedom, and he inveted her family and her to the Vatican. The goverment offerded money to the people that kidnaped her, but they didnt give anything, the people just let her in a place and run away. Also his family was offering money, they had alot of money off course because the father is a mayor and he has alot of business. The father not only offerded money, he offerded his self for the freedom of her daughter. And now they are investing money in the investigations. By: Ana Maria Lopez
Obama will sign on Friday: On Friday, U.S president Barack Obama will sing free trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea and Panama, which were approved by congress last week. The TAA (trade adjustment assistance) also moves on for a signature from president Obama; its an assistance program designed to help workers affected by foreign trade, and had become the cornerstone of bipartisan disputes in the final phases of negotiations in Washington. I think that this is going to create a positive impact in the politics because people will start thinking that the president is doing well his job because Alvaro Uribe, the last president in his 8 presidential years couldn’t get this free trade agreement with U.S and Santos did it in a year. Also this agreement will help in the economy because it will be easier to export products so there are going to be more jobs and people will start getting more money because they will sell more quantity. In the social aspect, people may feel insecure because American products are good quality and price so Colombian manufacturers may not feel competitive enough and also people will start thinking on how to improve the quality of their products so the sales in Colombia and U.S could improve. by Sofia Gutierrez
For the first time in the history of Colombia, in the elections of Bello, the blank vote wins over one unique candidate, German Londoño, with 56%. This means that the Electoral National Council has to program new elections for choosing the mayor in November.
Impacts: This situation show the reality of how democracy works. The people had the freedom of choosking what they wanted and to demostrate that the only candidate that was running was not who they wanted to govern the city. From the beginning the elections were not normal because it's not common to see that there's only one candidate so maybe this shows that the politicians were weak and were not interesed in governing the city and that they weren't brave enough to help and solve the problems the city has.
The candidate German Londoño lost a lot of pupoluarity because being the only candidate and loosing against the blank vote means that he was not good enough and that the people didn't like him, so it was humiliating for him. By the economical side there's also an impact because the organization of the elections cover a lot of expenses and the repetiton of the election means more money that the city has to expend. I think there's also an ecological impact because all the papers that were used during the elections are lost and there would need to spend more papers for the repetition of the elections.
Asomadera bridge connects the eastern and downtown of the city This Thursday Alonso Salazar opened the bridge of the Asomadera which makes part of the project for the prolongation of the Avenue 34. This project will join El Poblado, the downtown and the east of the city. The work consists on a 234 meters viaduct. The investment made on the bridge was of 7 thousand 700 million pesos within the budget of 41 thousand 300 million pesos that were meant to be used in the 34 Avenue project. Social impact: This bridge is giving back life to some neighborhoods just like El Salvador and to its inhabitants who are extremely happy because they never had the chance to witness such a huge project like this one is. It's a reality that in our city there's a huge separation between some zones, some sort of barrier which isn't easily breakable so I think this Avenue 34's prolongation can be helpful, off course it is needed a lot more than a bridge to socially unite the city but if there is a physical attachment and common thing between everyone there is a bigger chance for the people to come together Economic impact: 41 thousand 300 million pesos, the budget that is meant to be used on the whole Avenue 34 project, is a lot of money but I think that it is being used properly by the governors by spending it on highway projects, most of all as here in Medellin the roads and highways aren't so good. Political impact: The governors are gaining the support and trust of all the communities they are helping with this huge project.

ReplyDeleteThe last edition of the Vogue magazine caused it's director to quit because of a controversy raised by pictures of girls aged between 5 and 7 posing in sensual ways, with loads of make-up, high heels and inapropiate clothing.
These pictures didn't just raise ahuge controversy but also caused that brands such as Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy threatened to remove their publicity from the magazine.
Lots of comments were made by the public, criticizing the promoters and parents for allowing this kind of behavior.
Ecomomical Impact: Well, this would affect a lot Vogue magazine in the Economical part, because if such important brands take out their publicity, the magazing would stop selling and would have to cut it.
Social Impact: this affects the society because of the diverse opinions given by the public. What do you think? Is this child abuse?
Political Impact: in the political part, the country (USA) will realize that in the child abuse subject there qould always be diverse opinions and would have to reevaluate this case.
Alcoholics could stay 'spinters',study says
ReplyDeleteAlcohol dependence affects not only people who drink excessively, but also their partners, friends and family.
"We have long known that alcohol dependence strongly predicts the separation, but found that it also predicts the delay to marry, and that surprised us."
The study analyzed more than 2,500 pairs of Australian twins between 28 and 92 years of age, all with a history of alcohol dependence at some stage in their lives.
CENSUS IN COLOMBIA FOR THE AFFECTED PEOPLE BECAUSE OF THE WINTER- By: Laura Mejia
ReplyDeleteThe goverment starts a census in 760 towns in Colombia affected by the winter and floods because of the climate change. They start this census to know how many people are affected and in which ocnditions are them. so first they arre goingo to do a registration, then they are going to visit them to see in which conditions they are, and the third step is to move them temporally to a better place were they can live.
Economic impact: They have to rebuild all that houses that were affected by the winter, so it will bring many jobs, and they will also need many materials, so it will increase colombia`s economy. It also will be too expensive to the goverment.
Political impact: the goverment is the one that is encharged of this census. the goverment also has to make an effort to build everything again and help the affected people.
Social impact: this dissaster affects too many people and their homes and works, so this action helps this people to have a new life after this dissaster.

Fire in Rio de Janeiro
A fire in Rio de Janeiro on Monday destroyed a large portion of an area known as Samba City, where the decorations for the city's carnival celebration are created.

ReplyDeleteThe countdown for the release of the five kidnapped - Susana Panesso
ReplyDeleteYesterday at noon arrived the two helicopters that le Brazilian government lend for the operation in which five kidnapped by FARC are getting their liberty back.
Social Impact
The fact that there is a releasing from las FARC means that there can be a possible dialogue between the terrorists and the government. If there is such talk and a peace agreement FARC would stop taking peasant out of their homes and sending them to the cities, so there would be less homeless and beggars on the streets.
Economical Impact
Is peasants are let back on the country side, they would start growing the crops and that will increase Colombia’s economy.
Political Impact
If there is an agreement between the terrorists and the government, like in M19 case, FARC could become a new political group and the politics in Colombia would be renewed.

ReplyDeleteThe president of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos has proposed to extend the retirement age for Colombian people. From 2014 the retirement age for women would be 57 years, while for men would be 62. The purpose is supposed to be that men would retire at the age of 65 and women of 62. Garzón (the vice-president )expressed its disagreement to the proposal indicating that it should not be part of the National Development Plan, that this should be discussed
ReplyDeleteEconomical: this is happening because the government don’t have the enough money to pay to the retired people to live well
Political: This proposal has generated a division in the government because the vice-president, Angelino Garzon said that people couldn’t work that much, mean while the president agrees with this proposal.
Social: people would have to work 5 years more than is is supposed to be. Not everybody would agree but if they don’t work those years there wouldn’t be enough money in the future to pay the social security for everybody.

Colombian Truckers Strike
ReplyDeleteColombian truck drivers, have been on strike for more than two weeks, blocking major roadways of Colombia pressuring Colombian government.
Political impact: politics would be affected because they would be required to change all this table prices, after this mavy it could happen a division or more problems between the trackers and government.

las FARC released two kidnapped people missing:
ReplyDeleteGuillermo Solórzano kidnapped in 2007 and Salim Sanmiguel kidnapped in 2008 were handed over in Miranda in the department of Cauca.
ReplyDeleteThe earthquake that happened in New Zealand the 22 of February, cause that several houses and commercial centers have to be demolished.
CONTAMINATED FOOD AND SEAWATER IN JAPAN
ReplyDeleteThey have found radioactive substances in seawater near the plant.
NEW:MARIA CAMILA DEL TORO 8B
ReplyDeletePolice find in san Felix-bello six cans full of liquid cocaine, this was a really rare found because police check a laboratorie that make cocaine and other drugs and they didn't find it but in 26 of February they make a unusual discover that was liquid cocaine underground that was of a band called los pachelly.
All this cocaine have a total cost og 1.300 millions of pesos and is a new method for criminals to import or export cocaine without police to know, because they find this amount of cocaine because of a high technology equipment.
POLITICAL IMPACT:
Government would have to make new programs with police and more people for having more security or tools when is with drugs because narcotraficants are having a lot of new methods that government will have to be more carefull and to be better in their jobs.
SOCIAL IMPACT:
Is not only the fact that drugs affect health, social and mental problems in the population but also the trafication of this make violent wars in communitys so with this violence can grow.
ECONOMIC IMPACT:
There are 2 important facts the first one is that Dollars enter to the country and change a lot of things like prices of things and a economic that all is going to be doble priced and the other one is that pleasants and farmers are going to prefer to cultivate cocaine plant instead of fruits or vegtebales because the other options give them a higher quantity of money and this make a easy and risk fount to get money and to live to society.

Airplanes of the international coalition bombard misrata, between tripoli y sirte.
ReplyDeleteThe situation in the city is not good and is critical because they lack supplies, electricity, medicine and the number of injured is very high.

Everyone is waiting very happy and anxious this school.

MAKLED EXTRADITION WOULD BE THIS FRIDAY by:Maria Adelaida Acevedo
ReplyDeleteA few months ago the U.S. government was following the steps to Walid Makled drug dealer, when he was in Colombia territory they gave confidential information to the government to capture him.
Some reliable sources say that Makled had valuable information about the links between the Colombian drug traffickers with the Venezuelan government; because of this is of great interest to many governments (United States, Colombia and Venezuela).
Makled of Venezuelan national was captured in Cucuta and imprisoned by the Colombian authorities.
In one of reconciliation meetings between the president Juan Manuel Santos and Hugo Chavez, took the decision to extradict Makled to Venezuela.
Colombia’s raining season
ReplyDeleteThe first rainy season in Colombia this year is causing a lot of destructions throughout the country.

ReplyDeleteA day without car
ReplyDeleteWednesday, April 27, 2011 is going to be the day without car in all the Aburra Valley. The rule begins from 7am to 6pm. The only exceptions are for public service mobiles (busses, taxis, school, etc), clean gas cars and the ones that are being used by three or more people.
Impacts:
1. Political
The day without car was just held in Medellin last year, but this time the mayors from the 10 towns of the Aburra valley agreed to make it all around the valley. To make an agreement between 10 mayors takes a lot of work and “leaving” apart the other difficulties the towns have had between them in other occasions, so that an activity like these can be held in an organized and legal way.
2. Social
There is going to be a lot of people out in the streets, so there is going to be a lot of different activities around the valley to make people realize how important this day is and is our responsibility as citizens to participate.
Neighbors can gather up to make the 3 or more in a car. Shopping centers and parks are also preparing activities to make during the day.
3. Economical
The not cars might be harmful for industries such as the gas stations, car washing, etc. , but it is also going to be good to others such as Metro, Taxis, public service busses, etc.
4. Ecological
This day is also an ecological day, not as much air pollution is going to be caused by cars and people are going to realize walking, biking, skating, etc is also a good way to help the planet.

Mexican police free 51 workers taken hostage
ReplyDeleteMexican police have rescued 51 kidnap victims in Tamaulipas.
Impacts:
Political Impact: As crime has been increasing these last years, because of immigrants to the U.S and drug dealers, it’s good to know that the police are doing something about it.
Colombia winter disaster
ReplyDeleteIn the last weeks Colombia has been suffering a winter crisis.

Impacts:
Economical impact: this is a very big event, that would be produced by TV, channels, news, etc… also many people would come to visit the country, so they have to pay hotel, food, and maybe buys things; so this would increase Colombian economy, this also generate new jobs and the city would progress.

Walid Makled extradited to Venezuela
Walid Makled, also known as “el turco”, Venezuelan drug dealer was captured in Cucuta on August 19th 2010 and on Monday May 9th extradited to Venezuela.
Impacts:
Political impact: Makled could have been a master piece to destroy Las FARC since he was dealing with them and known them.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
ReplyDeleteThe directors name is Rob Marshall.

ReplyDeleteSocial impact: These countries can be affected because the tourism may decrease, because all the flights being cancelled. The people who lived near the volcano have to evacuate the zone, so they won’t have a home.
Economical impact: Because the flights being cancelled, the tourism will decrease because people can’t travel. The airlines will lose a lot of money
Political impact: The Iceland government will have to look for a place to live for the people who have to evacuate that zone.

ReplyDeleteAlmost the 60% of the childs in Colombia work more than 14 hours and the 11 % work more than the adults.

New cameras on the traffic lights in Medellin
ReplyDeleteIn this moment 80% of Medellin traffic lights have cameras, so the traffic light would be programmed with an intelligent system; this would help to make traffic and police mans more efficient.
Impacts:
Social impact: this would make Medellin more safety because accidents would be reduced, and this would create a positive change on peoples mind.
ReplyDeleteSo far there have been reported dead guerrillas. caracol was able to confirm that they found evidence of the presence of Cano in the struggles.
IMPACTS:
Social: the people that leave near the place they bombard will be affect too, because they can lose their homes or even their lives.

ReplyDeleteTWO MORE WEEKS OF MATERNITY LEAVE-By: Elisa Agudelo Ávila, 8°A.
ReplyDeleteColombian mothers can enjoy of fourteen weeks taking care of their babies.
JUAN MANUEL SANTOS SINGS A LAW AGAINST CORRUPTION
ReplyDelete10 moths ago he has a project about corruption to hel stop it. in these moment is a law.
santos is more focused on war against corruption in sectors like infraestructure, water and royalites from mining (people that need help)
these lawwill end with "carrouseles of contracts" in public work.
BY Maria Teresa Cadavid
USA Y BRAZIL announced the creation of a new organism for fighting for corruption by commitments.
ReplyDeleteIt is a strategy that will lead to decrease the levels of the world corruption.
Surprise court decisión
ReplyDeleteFor some time, no trial had garnered so much attention to U.S. media like Casey Anthony, a woman accused of killing his 2 year old daughter Caylee , in June 2008.

World Cup Colombia 2011 SUB- 20
The FIFA SUB-20 World Cup is taking place in Colombia, it started on July 29. It is for three weeks.
ReplyDeletePeople arrive to La Alpujarra at 6 p.m the day before, to get their turn to get their passport, people sleep outside the building, so the policeman can give them the ticket, since there are only 160 turns a day.
ReplyDeleteGlobal economy entering ‘new danger zone’
Global stock markets are entering a "new danger zone", the head of the World Bank has warned in a scathing critique of economic leadership in the US and Europe.
I don't say those words lightly ... so that policymakers recognize and take it seriously for what it is."
Zoellick said that problems related to sovereign debts and uncompetitive economies in the 17-state eurozone had often been dealt with "a day late", stoking investor concerns that governments and central banks were not getting on top of multiple crises or even approaching them in the right way.

ReplyDeleteBOLILLO GOMEZ- HERNAN GOMEZ
While the woman assaulted by the head coach of the football Colombia Hernan Dario Gomez was not present before the authorities and make a formal complaint, the prosecution can not open any criminal prosecution for these acts.
HURRICANE IRENE.
ReplyDeleteBy: Elisa Agudelo Ávila. 8ºA
Only card to pay on buses breaks through
ReplyDeleteCecilia Vélez 8B
ReplyDeleteNow its going to be a reality that all Colombian people can have access to internet thanks the senate that decided it in a debate.

ReplyDeleteBy: Valentina Abad P.
Floods left 517 homeless in Casanare, Colombia
ReplyDeleteMani, Colombia, Three rivers in central Colombia overflowed their banks in Wednesday (September 14), destroying croplands and forcing 517 families to evacuate their homes.

ReplyDeleteThe world produce enough food to feed 7000 million people, but every day 1000 million of people go to bed hungry, this is a problem the world is going trow, according to the federal “cruz roja”.
Many people is suffering, this is a problem that the world is passing trow, and the goverment doesnt care about it.
IMPACTS
This is a global problem that we lived every day and in every place in the world, take a minute and realize how many people in this moment is dying for food.
STRIKE IN PACIFIC RUBIALES ENERGY
ReplyDeletePacific Rubiales energy is a company in the business of heavy crude oil and natural gas, its focus is on Colombia and Peru.
Impacts:
In the economic part, the company lost money and production of petroleum and this makes the problem bigger because it is an international company and the loss is not only in Colombia but also in other countries, the country doesn't also receive bonuses neither taxes and after this unemployment the investors will prefer to invest in other parts.

Economical Crisis in the world
ReplyDeleteThe world is suffering an economical crisis; this hasn’t happen since 2008 with the world financial system.
ReplyDelete'El Perla Negra' failed to make its first trip through the Colombian Pacific, the submersible made of fiberglass and steel, had the autonomy of traveling 4 or 5 feet deep in the ocean and can carry up to four tons of cocaine.
Impacts:
The most important impact would be the economical impact, because many families’ economy is supported by the cultivation of drugs and the trading of them; so if the drugs and their expensive gadgets like the submarine get taken away by the policemen, the FARC loses a lot of money, and then they can’t give the families the money they promised to give them, and their living conditions could get really bad and this affects the country’s economy because if they don’t have the money, they can’t pay taxes.
10 years old girl kidnapped
ReplyDeleteBY: Megan Pearce Calle 8A
On September 29 a group of people kidnapped the 10 year old daughter of the mayor of Fortul, Arauca. They kidnapped her mother too but they released her later.
The authorities don’t know if the kidnappers are from FARC or if they are a common delinquency group.
Political Impact:
Being close to national elections day, this event causes insecurity and government instability, loosing people`s trust in our authorities to control violence and offer security to its people.
It also causes fear and insecurity among politicians to serve our country because they have a higher vulnerability to violence.
Social Impact:
Colombian inhabitants, especially kids and young people are emotionally disturbed. This type of cases show that not even children are safe from being kidnapped in Colombia and that violence in our country trespass all barriers of sex, genders, social classes and age.
Economical Impact:
A country´s economic security is impacted when it can not offer security to its people. Other countries lose trust in our country´s ability to provide security to its people and therefore do not invest, especially with the latest news on Colombia trying to get the free treatment agreement (TLC) to pass
Mountain high way
ReplyDeleteThe history of this business, which is over 2,300 million dollars (that demand pescadero Ituango construction) starts with the commitment of the ex President Alvaro Uribe Velez to the Medellin-Turbo dual carriageway.

ReplyDeleteViolence,the silly student in Medellin
Some Months ago in La Institucion Educativa Edurardo Santos,of la commune 13 they had some problems of armed groups around the area,The principal of the school,Manuel Antonio Lopez, talk about a time that he was in a meeting and he listen to some shooting, when he look there was murdered student down the street.
There is a big problem in the city with violence and the invisible borders, because of fear students are leaving education its because violence obligate them to leave their homes and also the little amount of psychological support, of 224 educational institutions that the city have,23 are in risk because this invisible borders that are made by illegal armed groups and the number of students that leave education only in this first 6 months of the year are 965 students
The most affected commune is San Antonio de Prado, and then communes 13,16,8 and 5,There are some murdered students, some that are threatened and also charity homes that are in risk all because this armed groups.
oEducation is the main part of every human to developed in life In the best way, education give us the opportunity to make our future a good one, this girls and boys that are loosing this opportunity because some armed groups that are damaging the peace of the pleace and that are making people not to study because they are going to get killed give us a social problem because child’s and teenagers that need education are going to loose the opportunity of education and the most logical thing that is going to happened is that their futures would not be honorable one,for them to supply their needs they would find a way were education isn’t needed like prostitution, stealing, killing, trafficking that would lead to the same problems of violence so society would be affected, for this problem to be solved government would need a bigger security program that can assure the citizens that violence is not going to disturb them lifes anymore for that they would have to spend more money and a lot of things that are involved for the protection of this lifes that are in risk and trying to finish this persons that are making their place to live a horrible place and also for students to get back to school persons that give this students that are suffering a good specialized persons that can offer them a perfect psychological support, every person spect that the childs and teenagers would be the ones that are making the future of the country but if education isn’t applied they would give us more trouble for example talking about economic aspect this childs that then became adults that aren’t working wouldn’t give the country the economic part that we are specting otherwise poorness would appear in more high amount that affect in all the ways of the development of the country.

ReplyDeleteTHE VATICAN PROPOSES A GLOBAL CENTRAL BANK TO GET OUT OF THE CRISIS
Maria Adelaida de Greiff
The Catholic Church proposed that the global financial system has to be renovated immediately and talk specifically about the necessity of a general central bank that takes charges on confronting the crisis.
Defense Minister confirms the FARC responsability about the kidnaping of Nhora Valentina, the daughter of the Mayor of Fortul-Arauca
ReplyDeleteDefense Minister Juan Cralos Pinzon said that the FARC participated in the kidnapping of Nhora Valentina the daughter of the Mayor of Fortul-Arauca, who was kidnaped 21 days ago.
Impacts
The goverment did alot of things for the freedom of this girl.

Obama will sign on Friday:
ReplyDeleteOn Friday, U.S president Barack Obama will sing free trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea and Panama, which were approved by congress last week.

For the first time in the history of Colombia, in the elections of Bello, the blank vote wins over one unique candidate, German Londoño, with 56%. This means that the Electoral National Council has to program new elections for choosing the mayor in November.
ReplyDeleteImpacts:
This situation show the reality of how democracy works.

ReplyDeleteAsomadera bridge connects the eastern and downtown of the city
ReplyDeleteThis Thursday Alonso Salazar opened the bridge of the Asomadera which makes part of the project for the prolongation of the Avenue 34. This project will join El Poblado, the downtown and the east of the city.
The work consists on a 234 meters viaduct.
The investment made on the bridge was of 7 thousand 700 million pesos within the budget of 41 thousand 300 million pesos that were meant to be used in the 34 Avenue project.
Social impact:
This bridge is giving back life to some neighborhoods just like El Salvador and to its inhabitants who are extremely happy because they never had the chance to witness such a huge project like this one is.
It's a reality that in our city there's a huge separation between some zones, some sort of barrier which isn't easily breakable so I think this Avenue 34's prolongation can be helpful, off course it is needed a lot more than a bridge to socially unite the city but if there is a physical attachment and common thing between everyone there is a bigger chance for the people to come together
Economic impact:
41 thousand 300 million pesos, the budget that is meant to be used on the whole Avenue 34 project, is a lot of money but I think that it is being used properly by the governors by spending it on highway projects, most of all as here in Medellin the roads and highways aren't so good.
Political impact:
The governors are gaining the support and trust of all the communities they are helping with this huge project.
